Booking, retainerand licensing terms.
What you are agreeing to when you pay a retainer, in the order it tends to matter. Anything here can be varied in writing before a shoot — ask rather than assume.

01Booking & retainer
A retainer is required to secure and confirm a booking date — 30% for portraits, birthdays and smaller shoots, and 40% for weddings and major events.
The booking is not considered confirmed until the retainer has been received.
The retainer is non-refundable, because it compensates Dee Shot It for reserving the date and declining other potential bookings for that period.
The remaining balance must be paid on or before the scheduled shoot or event date.
02Rescheduling
Clients may request to reschedule a booking by giving at least 14 days' notice.
A rescheduling request is subject to availability.
Where sufficient notice is given, the retainer may be transferred once to a new available date without an additional booking fee.
Rescheduling requests made less than 14 days before the booking may result in the retainer being forfeited.
03Cancellation
If a client cancels a confirmed booking, the retainer remains non-refundable.
Where a cancellation is made at least 14 days before the scheduled date, Dee Shot It may, at its discretion, allow the client to transfer the retainer to another available date.
If Dee Shot It cancels a confirmed booking for reasons within its control and cannot provide a suitable replacement date, the client receives a full refund of payments made.
04Late payments
Dee Shot It reserves the right to withhold delivery of final photographs, videos or other deliverables until the agreed balance has been paid in full.
05Image & video licensing
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all photographs and videos remain the intellectual property and copyright of Dee Shot It.
Standard photography and videography packages include a non-exclusive, non-transferable personal-use licence for the client.
That licence allows the client to:
- Download and keep the delivered images and videos.
- Share them on personal social media accounts.
- Use them for personal memories and non-commercial purposes.
- Print photographs for personal use.
06Commercial & promotional use
The standard package does not automatically include commercial usage rights.
Commercial usage includes, but is not limited to:
- Advertising and paid campaigns.
- Brand and business promotion.
- Product or service marketing.
- Corporate campaigns.
- Paid social media advertising.
- Website and e-commerce advertising.
- Billboards, publications and other commercial media.
- Use by third-party brands or organisations.
07Commercial licensing fees
Commercial or extended licensing may require an additional fee, depending on the intended use, duration, territory, platform and scale of distribution.
Clients who require commercial usage should discuss licensing requirements with Dee Shot It before booking.
08Copyright & editing
Dee Shot It retains copyright ownership of all original photographs and video footage unless a separate written copyright transfer agreement is made.
Clients may not sell, license, redistribute or commercially exploit the delivered photographs or videos without written permission.
Clients should not apply extensive edits, filters or alterations that materially change the creative work without prior discussion with Dee Shot It.
09Portfolio rights
Unless the client has requested confidentiality in writing before the shoot, Dee Shot It reserves the right to use selected photographs and video footage from a commissioned project for:
- Portfolio purposes.
- Website and social media.
- Advertising and marketing.
- Competitions, exhibitions and promotional materials.
10Confidentiality
Where confidentiality is required, it should be agreed before the project begins, and may attract an additional fee depending on the circumstances.
11Delivery
Final deliverables are provided within the delivery period specified in the client's selected package.
Delivery timelines may vary depending on the type and size of the project.
Unedited and raw photographs and video footage are not included unless explicitly stated in the selected package.
12Acceptance of terms
By paying the booking retainer, the client confirms that they have read, understood and accepted Dee Shot It's booking, payment, copyright and licensing terms.
Something here you need changed?
Confidentiality, commercial usage and copyright can all be agreed differently — in writing, before the shoot. Ask at brief stage and it gets quoted with the rest.
